My gr gr gr grandfather, Thomas NELSON, migrated with his wife, Francis JOINER Nelson, and family to SW Iowa in 1854. Francis died on November 8, 1854 and is buried in the Cemetery at Quincy. Thomas Nelson owned, at one time, the mill in Carbon. My gr gr grandfather, Richard BRISCOE, was born on 7/1/1831 in England. He and his wife, Maria ANSTEY Briscoe settled in the area, now vacated, called Briscoe, Iowa, between Carbon and Cumberland. They were miners. I would like to share information with others concerning these families.

Seeking info on John & Ellen PATTISON of Carbon. I am assuming they are buried in one of the local cemeteries. Also had a son named John P. who along with his wife (unknown) may have been killed in an accident (train/auto?) in the late 1890's. They should also be buried around Carbon. ELLIS or WILLIAMSON: Looking for descendants of Joseph Loren Ellis, b. 1828, Yarmouth Nova Scotia, d. 1918, Endeavor WI, and Margaret Theresa Trask. "In early manhood he worked a number of years as a farm laborer in Massachusetts, saving his earnings to start a home in the far West. In 1856 he went with a colony of New Englanders to Adams county, in southwestern Iowa, 200 miles weat of the farthest reach of the railway, and there he and his bride, Margaret Theresa Trask made their thrifty, well-ordered home for 33 years. Looking for any and all information about Charles BROOKS, his wife Mary Elizabeth WOODSON and his ten children ( Myrtle R., Maggie Agnes, Robert L., Ada, Anice F., William Ralph, Lulu Belle, Floyd/Frank, Lucy, and Hattie Unis ). I believe they moved to Adams county around 1878-79. Charles was a coal miner for most of his life and may have died in a mine accident. The two oldest children make reference to Corning as their birthplace, Myrtle (marriage certificate) and Maggie (obituary). I'm looking for further proof. William and Lulu Belle where born in Carbon, I have their birth record information from the county seat in Corning. Looking for information on Clary: Frank (Henry B.)and his wife Katherine (Katie HICKS). George ROBINSON died in Prescott, Adams Co., Iowa in April 1901. He was from Brigg, Lincolnshire, England and came to the US in 1851. He lived in Wisconsin and Illinois before coming to Adams CO. He was married three times. His second wife was said to be Mary CANKWELL and his thrid was Mrs. Louisa CAROTHERS. Any connections or information about this family would be appreciated. George had at five childen- one of which was George A. Robinson. Two of his brothers lived in Council Bluffs in 1901.
