The Adams County Genealogical Society may provide lookups as time permits. Their address is: Adams County Genealogical Society, 603 9th St., Corning, IA 50841. Inquiries may go to their email address of acgscorn @ yahoo.com. Their newsletter is published 4 times per year. Meetings are held on the first Sunday of each month at the Corning Public Library at 2 pm. Dues are $10.00 per person, or $15.00 per family, per year, payable on January 1 of each year. The current President is Dave Devine and Sec/Treas is Pat Kennedy. VP is Anna Ruth Hardisty.

ACGS has published cemetery lists, birth records, death registers, tax lists and marriage records for Adams County. Please inquire for availability. These can be ordered from Adams County Genealogical Society at the above address or from IGS, PO Box 7735, Des Moines, Iowa.

The Corning Public Library has some issues of the Free Press on microfilm back to the 1890's, and most issues from 1920 on. This is the best place to look up obituaries. The Adams County Genealogical Society has moved from the Prescott Library to the Corning Library as of December 2004.

Recorders Office - They will do searches for death records at $10 per name, or they can have a genealogist come in and do it for $2 a photocopied page. They require a written request.
