Kezia's father was Phillip Salvidge and is listed as a yeoman. Her mother's name was Mary. Benjamin and Kezia were both born in England where he was a farm laborer. They came to the United States from Somerton, Somersetshire, England in 1869 with four of their children. The two youngest children were born in the United States. They settled in Oneida, Illinois. They were married in the Parish Church according to the Rites and Ceremonies of the Church of England after Banns. Witnessed by Phillip Salvidge, who signed with his mark "X" and Maria Fudge. They were followers of John Wesley (Methodists). Have copies of the tickets which were the receipts for the tithes paid. Shows they paid tithes before and after marriage. Also a few with Kezia's mothers name (Mary Salvidge). Dates on the tickets are between 1856 and 1859. Information was obtained about the tithe tickets from the Minister of Methodist Church in Somerton, England. Ben died Oct. 5, 1894. He was buried in Oneida, IL. Kazia died in Taylor County, Iowa and was buried in the Oneida cemetery on March 1, 1901. They were married Apr. 5, 1858 at Somerton, England. (written by Marie Roach)
