Richard Wilkinson Cox was born in a
colliery (coal miner housing) near Bishop Middleham,
County Durham, England on November 12, 1875 and died on March 21, 1959
in Omaha, NE. His parents
were John Cox and Hannah
Wilkinson. From 1874 to 1879, his family lived
in Bishop Middleham. In 1879, they moved to Taylor County,
Iowa.
Lora Pearl West was born on October 14, 1882 and died on May 14, 1967
in Glenwood, Iowa. They were married on October 11, 1905 in Afton,
Union County, Iowa.
While in Illinois; Anna, Hannah and Jenny were born (1866 - 1870). John F. Cox was born Aug. 30, 1879 in Taylor County, Iowa. John took the initial "F" later to keep the mail from getting mixed with his father, John Cox.

Richard Wilkinson Cox was born November 12, 1875 Bishop Middleham Colliery, Durham, England to John Cox and Hannah Wilkinson and died March 21, 1959 in Omaha, Douglas County, Nebraska at the age of 84. He married Lora Pearl West on October 11, 1905 in Afton, Union County, Iowa. To this union four children were born: a son, who died at birth and three daughters, Mrs. Truman (Grace) Payne of Denver, Colorado; Mrs. Garreld (Edith) Baker of Glenwood, Iowa; and Mrs. Henry (Aleda) Carlson of Omaha, Nebraska. After farming for 29 years in Holt township, Taylor county, the family moved to Lenox where they resided for five years before moving to Glenwood, Iowa. For several years they lived in Corning, Iowa and assisting in the care of his wife, Lora's invalid mother. During this time Mr. Cox was employed in Omaha. In 1956 they purchased a home in Omaha where Mr. Cox passed away in March 24, 1959.

Mrs. Pearl Cox, wife of Richard Cox, former Lenox resident, died
Sunday, May 14th in a Nursing Home in Glenwood, Iowa.
Mrs. Cox was a niece of Mrs. Lillie Menoher and a cousin of Mrs. Virgil
Vincent.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at Roland Funeral Home in Corning
at 2:00. Burial was in Prairie Rose Cemetery near Corning.

Paula Kay Bartels, 67, Buffalo, N.Y., formerly of Glenwood, died Jan. 30, 2015, in Buffalo. Funeral services are Friday, Feb. 6, 2015, at 2 p.m. at Peterson Mortuary in Glenwood. Interment will be in the Glenwood Cemetery. Paula was born June 15, 1947, in Council Bluffs, to Garreld John and Edith Lorraine (Cox) Baker. Paula is survived by her daughter, Angela Jafari, Springfield, Va.
