Solomon was born on January 2, 1795 in either Montgomery County (Md) or possibly Ohio County, VA. He moved with his parents and siblings to Belmont County Ohio by 1796.
He married Catherine Warren, daughter of Haddock Warren and Nancy Ann Hawley (or Hillyard), on October 26, 1815 in Belmont County Ohio.
Haddock WARREN, Born on Apr 17, 1765 in Murderkill Hundred, Kent Co., Delaware. Haddock died in Richland Twp., Belmont Co., Ohio, on Mar 17, 1830; he was 64. Buried aft Mar 17, 1830 in William Kurth Farm, Richland Twp., Belmont Co., Ohio. Occupation: Farmer. In 1789 when Haddock was 23, he married Nancy Ann HILLYARD, in Delaware.
Solomon and Catherine lived in Belmont County until 1830, when his father Obediah died. They moved to Guernsey County, just to the west of Belmont County until about 1839. They travelled west to Spencer County Indiana to the small town of Rockport.
In 1839, Samuel and one of his married sisters came west to Lee County Iowa. They settled near Sugar Creek. After Solomon's death in 1841, Catherine joined her children in Keokuk. Nancy and her husband, Jacob Cummings, moved to Keokuk in 1842. Jacob died in 1844. Nancy remarried to Peter Lamaster in 1846. In 1850, Thomas also located in Keokuk.
George went into a partnership with his brothers Thomas and Haddock Hardesty in the contractors business in 1852. Also in 1852, Samuel Hardesty and his family left Keokuk for greener land in Adams County, Iowa. In 1853, Peter Lamaster died of bilious fever. In 1854, Nancy remarried to Jared Nelson Goddard.
Catherine died in 1863. We do not know where she or Solomon is buried. Catherine may be buried near Croton, Iowa, where her daughter, Nancy, lived. George Hardesty became a member of the Keokuk City Council in 1870.
